Software Engineer - NASCAR (Daytona Beach, FL)


NASCAR is searching for a talented professional to join our team in the position of Software Engineer. Based at our premier new headquarters in Daytona Beach, the Software Engineer will be responsible for creating a conceptual and detailed design, writing code based on conceptual descriptions of the business logic.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Developing software based on the description of the business logic.

• Making enhancements to existing programs.

• Database programming

Required skills/experience:

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) and three years experience in the software packages is required:
o MS.NET (VB.NET)
o Experience in Silverlight / WCF
o SQL Server 2008
o Active Reports – Data Dynamics

Information Technology: Programmer
Web Developer (Adobe CQ) - NASCAR Digital Media (Charlotte, NC)

NASCAR seeks a talented professional to join our Digital Media team in the position of Web Developer (Adobe CQ) to support NASCAR’s new digital platform based in our Charlotte, NC office.  This position provides unique opportunity to impact the digital direction of a major sports league.

The Adobe CQ Web Developer is responsible for supporting NASCAR’s new digital platform with an emphasis on our content management system and related products. This role will involve a large range of web development tasks surrounding the Adobe CQ content management system. The right candidate will gain a wealth of experience as part of the NASCAR Digital Development team, and will play an important and direct role in engaging fans with the sport. Day-to-day tasks will involve general site maintenance and enhancements, co-ordination with external developers, building of new pages for NASCAR’s partners, and assisting with the planning of NASCAR’s infrastructure and ongoing digital strategy.  NASCAR is the No. 1 spectator sport – with more of the top 20 highest attended sporting events in the U.S. than any other sport, and is the No. 2 rated regular-season sport on television. NASCAR races are broadcast in more than 150 countries and in 20 languages.
NASCAR is seeking a highly organized and motivated self-starter, with strong communication skills, and a general enthusiasm for CMS development.

Range of Duties may include:
• Develop deep understand of existing digital platform including associated databases, data sources and dependencies, workflow, information architecture, and legacy systems currently in production.
• Build new Adobe CQ Components, or extend previously created components, for simple, intuitive, author editing of pages.
• Develop templates/components using JSP/JSTL and Java.
• Write HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JQuery, and have an awareness of existing plug-ins as starting points for component development.
• Recreate/translate designs from creative, delivered in the form of PSD files. Some image editing experience is a plus.
• Understand cross-browser compatibility and browser coding/debugging tools (e.g. Firebug, IE Tools).
• Develop a deep understanding of CQ applications, including OSGi components and JCR.
• Write new documentation as needed, and evaluate existing documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Familiarity with responsive design and coding for mobile websites.
• Perform complete testing of Web applications–unit and system, engaging users as necessary.
• Designs and codes superior technical solutions, enforces coding standards.
• Recognizes system deficiencies and implements effective solutions.
• Responsible for the end-user experience via the interface, sitemap, site architecture, feeds architecture and back-end code functionality.
• Work closely with visual designers to bridge design and engineering work effort.

Required Skills/Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from four-year college or university; and five (5) years current Web Development related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in web development using enterprise-level content management system
• Preferred: Knowledge of Adobe CQ5 Web Content Management platform
• Excellent portfolio of work and evidence of depth of knowledge in interactive projects
• Strong knowledge and experience with JavaScript in the client side environment
• Strong knowledge and experience with JavaServer Pages (JSP/JSTL)
• Advanced knowledge of Object Oriented Programming (Java) is a plus
• Knowledge of open standards are a plus (e.g. XML, XSLT, LDAP)
